VOGUE Polska, Spring 2024 Issue: Illustrated the significance
of movement direction in fashion shows.

Agata Rek is honored to illustrate for Vogue Polska once again, this time creating artwork for the Spring 2024 issue to accompany Kamila Wagner’s essay on the dynamic movements shaping fashion runways. The piece celebrates Pat Bogusławski, a visionary in movement direction, known for his work with iconic brands such as Maison Margiela and John Galliano.

From the moment Agata first read the essay, she was captivated by the challenge of translating movement into visual form. Reflecting on the project, she describes the experience as smooth and professional, much like her previous work for Vogue Leaders in 2022. Her goal was to capture the essence of movement, drawing inspiration from the exaggerated, doll-like motions observed on the runways. Research played a key role in shaping her vision, allowing her to dive deeper into the theatrical gestures that fueled her creative process.

Agata aimed to align her illustrations with Vogue Polska’s timeless and artful aesthetic. She pushed creative boundaries, experimenting with materials like paint, staples, and adhesive layers, while incorporating paper-folding techniques to create a striking 3D effect that mirrored the fluidity of fabric.
